Non-Turkish shippers taking up permanent residence without a work contract
may not import a vehicle, unless they are moving for marriage reasons. For
those with a work permit, import is allowed under the condition that the car
will not be sold to a Turkish Citizen. In this case, a bank guarantee will be
required which is calculated on the year and weight of the vehicle.
Returning Turkish citizens may import a vehicle however duties and taxes will
apply. The car must not be older than three years and must have been used
for at least six months prior to importation.
Additional documentation required for motor vehicles:
· Vehicle registration papers
· ID card (if returning Turk)
